Two state organizations embezzle UZS1.3 billion budget funds in Navoi

During an operational event, Prosecutor General’s Office found out that financially responsible persons of the Navoi Regional Department of Public Education purchased 8 types of sports equipment for 787.8 million soums.

Also, the former officials of the Navoi Main Department of Tourism and Sports bought 22 types of sports equipment for 598.9 million soums. This is several times more than their actual price.

In addition, in December last year, 8 schoolchildren went to Moscow to compete in an Olympiad at their own expense, and officials, having forged travel documents, stole 80 million soums from the budget.

According to these facts, criminal cases have been initiated under articles 167 (theft by misappropriation or embezzlement) and 205 (abuse of power or authority) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, an investigation is underway.
