Deputy PM Jamshid Khodjaev visits Moscow
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk received a delegation from Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev.
During the talks, issues of trade and economic cooperation, which are of mutual interest to Uzbekistan and Russia, were discussed.
“Particular attention was paid to expanding investment cooperation and developing international transport and logistics communications in the Central Asian region. The parties stressed that the partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan is of a strategic nature, all areas of cooperation between the countries are progressively developing,” the Russian government press service said in a statement.
At the meeting, Alexey Overchuk noted the positive dynamics of strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In the first half of 2022, trade between the countries increased by 39% compared to the same period in 2021. Exports increased by 41%, imports - by 35%. A high pace of development of investment cooperation was especially stressed, including already implemented projects in the industrial and energy sectors of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the parties discussed projects to provide technical assistance in improving the systems of tax administration and cadastral valuation in Uzbekistan and the results of simplification of customs procedures in the implementation of mutual trade.
