“Uzbekistan has a large lithium mine, we are preparing to launch mining and processing of this metal in the country,” the deputy minister said.

He noted that the ministry considers the development of the so-called “technological metals” industry as a promising direction in the whole country.

Over a year ago, the President of Uzbekistan was informed about the plan to establish a New Mine project office with a charter capital of $15 million under the Reconstruction and Development Fund. The structure is engaged in the implementation of investment projects for the mining of lithium, aluminum, magnesium, graphite and other rare metals.

It should be recalled that Uzbekistan’s portfolio of investment proposals includes the development of the “Shovozsoy” lithium mine in the Tashkent region. Its reserves exceed 123,000 tons. The cost of the project is estimated at $59.5 million.
