Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin
On May 3, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held talks with the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mirziyoyev thanked the Federal President for the invitation to visit Germany and for the cordial reception.
The presidents noted that multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany is developing. Active political, humanitarian and business dialogues continue. The parties have been supporting each other within the framework of prestigious international institutions, including the United Nations.
A unanimous opinion was expressed on the importance of bringing bilateral relations to a higher level. The sides considered the issues of expanding trade-economic, investment and technological cooperation, and determined the priorities of practical collaboration.
The presidents welcomed the results of the business activities, which ended with the signing of trade agreements and investment-technology contracts with a total value of more than 9 billion euros.
In Berlin, Uzbekistan's efforts to ensure stability and prosperity in the Central Asian region are highly appreciated. In this sense, it was noted that Germany is ready to support interconnection projects in the region, including within the framework of the "Global Gateway" initiative of the European Union.
The parties expressed their interest in strengthening cooperation in the field of security, combating modern threats and dangers, taking into account the situation in the region, including Afghanistan. The importance of providing targeted humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, using modern infrastructure opportunities created in the border city of Termiz, was especially noted.
Special attention was paid to issues of cultural and humanitarian exchange. The leaders expressed their satisfaction that a unique exhibition dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan is being opened in Berlin. An agreement was reached on the preparation of a comprehensive program for learning the German language in Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Frank-Walter Steinmeier to visit Uzbekistan.
