Macron is expected to be the second President of France to visit Uzbekistan. In the near future, the President of Hungary, the President of Singapore, the Prime Minister of Japan and the Emir of Qatar may also visit Uzbekistan.

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Uzbekistan in 2023, said the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Qudratov on May 5.

“For President Macron’s visit to be of practical importance, the governments of the two countries must put great effort,” said Qudratov at the meeting of the Uzbekistan-France intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

If the visit takes place, Macron will be the second President of France to visit Uzbekistan. In 1993, the first President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, traveled around Europe. He visited the GFR, the Netherlands, France and Great Britain, and in response to this, in 1994, the 21st President of France, Francois Mitterrand, came to Samarkand.

For information, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Paris for two days in October 2018 and November 2022. During last year's visit, Mirziyoyev invited his French colleague to visit Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.

It is also noted that the President of Hungary Katalin Novák, the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob are also expected to visit Uzbekistan.

In 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev may make a state visit to Bangladesh, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and China, and an official visit to India, Kazakhstan and Italy.

It is also planned that Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Brussels to sign the new main document between Uzbekistan and the European Union - the Agreement on Extended Partnership and Cooperation, which has been developed for several years. Last month, it was announced that the negotiations on the draft deal were successfully completed and finalized.
