President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the decree “On the first priority measures for the implementation of the new version of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

In accordance with the decree, the law “On the list of categories of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan – persons who must be registered according to their place of permanent residence in the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent region” will be repealed.

The Cabinet of Ministers must submit a bill to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis to declare this law invalid within 2 months.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs was tasked to submit a draft of the presidential decree within a month, which provides for completely new mechanisms aimed at introducing the procedure for informing citizens about registration of their place of residence.

The main purpose is to ensure the full realization of the right to free movement throughout the country, to choose the place of residence, as defined in Article 32 of the newly revised Constitution.
