Energy Ministry reports 21 billion soums worth of electricity theft in May
Uzenergoinspektsiya, together with law enforcement agencies, detected 135 cases of illegal use of electricity in May throughout the republic.
Reportedly, consumers illegally used 23 million kWh of electricity. The damage caused to the energy system amounted to 20.6 billion soums.
Most cases of electricity theft were recorded in Samarkand, Jizzakh and Bukhara regions.
“In relation to violating consumers, measures were taken in the prescribed manner, the relevant documents were sent to law enforcement agencies,” the report says.
It should be recalled that in April of this year, 225 facts of illegal use of electricity were revealed. Then the damage caused to the energy system amounted to 5.5 billion soums (for 10.9 million kWh of electricity).
