Ex-official who misappropriated more than 1 billion soums of budget funds returns to his post in Navoi

Earlier, Yusuf Tursunov, the former head of the Navoi city landscaping department, was found guilty of embezzling 1 billion 53 million soums of budget funds.

According to the verdict of the Navoi city court dated March 4, 2021 (the document is at the disposal of the editors of UzNews.uz), the official was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph “a” of Article 167-3 of the Criminal Code (Theft committed on an especially large scale). He was sentenced to 2 years and 7 months of corrective labor minus 10% of his monthly salary.

He was also deprived of the right to hold managerial positions and positions related to financial responsibility for a period of 1 year and 6 months.

However, despite this, Yusuf Tursunov was re-appointed to the post of head of the landscaping department of the city of Navoi. The corresponding decision of June 21 was signed by the city governor Muratkhan Egamkulov.
