Car sales grew by 11% in H1 of the year 

According to the results of the first half of 2023, car sales amounted to 718.2 thousand, 11% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, in the second quarter compared to the second quarter of last year, sales increased by 14%, the sales volume exceeded 372 thousand cars.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) conducted an analysis of the situation in the automobile market of Uzbekistan.

According to them, in June the number of all types of vehicles sold amounted to 123 thousand, with a noticeable drop by 21% compared to May and an increase of 2.6% compared to June last year. During the first summer month, 110.5 thousand cars were sold in Uzbekistan, having decreased by 21.6% over the month.

The largest decline in sales of passenger cars was noted in Syrdarya - by 36%, Bukhara regions - 34% and Tashkent city - 34%. At the same time, in relation to the same period last year, sales growth of 0.9% was noted.

The situation in the primary car market

Sales of passenger cars in the primary market decreased by 17.5% over the month. At the same time, compared to June 2022, the primary market showed an increase of 8.4%.

Sales of new domestic passenger cars amounted to almost 24,000, having decreased by 20% compared to May.

The market for passenger cars

The number of sales of new passenger cars of foreign production amounted to 3.7 thousand, with an increase of 14%.

The situation in the secondary car market

The secondary auto market of passenger cars in June was also marked by a decline in sales. Almost 83,000 cars were sold during the month, which is 23% less than in May.

Electric vehicle market

In the first half of the year, sales of electric vehicles amounted to 7.6 thousand, with an annual growth of 1.7 times. At the same time, 5.4 thousand were sold in the second quarter, which is 2 times more than a year earlier.

In June, sales of passenger electric vehicles increased by 8.7% and amounted to 2.1 thousand. The city of Tashkent remains the leader in sales of electric vehicles - 1.6 thousand. 105 and 102 units were sold in Tashkent and Fergana regions, respectively.

Sales in the primary market of electric vehicles in June increased by 14%, in the secondary market they decreased by 8.5%.
