Ministry of Energy asks people to "understand and support" measures with power outages

The Ministry of Energy has issued its “annual” statement with regard to power outages. It says “Electricity supply disruptions are caused by the network overload.” The same statement is issued every winter as well.

According to the ministry, in order to thoroughly prepare for the autumn-winter season, current and major repairs are being carried out at power plants, electrical networks, substations and transformer points.

During these repairs, electrical networks in some regions will be temporarily disconnected from the general network, there will be interruptions in the power supply to consumers.

In addition, overheating of electrical appliances and increased consumption as a result of a sharp increase in air temperature can lead to large-scale emergency shutdowns in the power system. It may take some time (a day or more) to fix them.

In general, electric networks located under the open sun heat up to temperatures not designed for their work in today's abnormal weather conditions. In addition, a sharp increase in electricity consumption also affects the failure of transmission networks, especially during the daytime.

In this situation, in order to prevent large-scale problems in the power system, dispatching services take the necessary measures to reduce the load on the power transmission networks. For example, in cases where certain indicators approach a critical level, some residential buildings and production facilities are temporarily disconnected from the power supply.

It is noted that in order to prevent and eliminate emergencies in electrical networks, special emergency teams have been created in all regions. They do their best to eliminate problems immediately.

“We ask consumers to understand and support that these necessary measures are critical to prevent large-scale power outages that require a much longer repair period,” the Ministry of Energy concluded.

It should be noted that it has become a sort of a tradition for the Ministry of Energy to disconnect consumers from power networks for several hours every summer “to carry out repair works, prevent shutdowns and prepare for the autumn-winter season”, but when winter comes, they again fail to ensure uninterrupted supply of energy. Then people start complaining about long hours of power cuts in the cold. The ministry reacts to these complaints and issues a statement “admitting” their mistakes, saying they have learned their lessons and would be better prepared for the next winter. It repeats and repeats with no change.
