President pardons a group of persons serving sentences
In connection with the 32nd anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of our Motherland, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the decree “On pardoning a group of persons serving sentences who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.

As the decree states, in accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 286 persons serving sentences for committing a crime, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction, were pardoned.
Of those pardoned, 109 persons were released from punishment completely, 116 persons were released from serving their sentences on parole, and the punishment imposed on 25 persons was replaced with a milder one. In addition, the terms of punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty imposed on 36 persons were reduced.
Among those pardoned are 39 women, 22 men over 60 years old, 30 citizens of foreign states, 3 persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
As part of the implementation of the decree, the responsible ministries and departments were instructed to return the pardoned persons to their families and loved ones, to assist them in social adaptation, attraction to useful work, choosing a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
