US company to help modernize Uzbekistan’s power generation capacities
General Electric Global Parts and Products GmbH will supply spare parts for thermal power plants and participate in their maintenance.
Uzbekistan has entered into a major agreement with General Electric to modernize the republic’s power generation capacities, the state-owned Thermal Power Plants company reported.
The negotiations were held on the sidelines of the business forum that took place before Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s recent visit to the United States. The management of the Uzbekenergotamir enterprise, which is part of TPP JSC, held talks with General Electric Global Parts and Products GmbH, an international subsidiary of the corporation.
The main topic was the renewal and maintenance of power units operating in Uzbekistan. Cooperation will allow Uzbekistan to introduce advanced efficient technologies in the energy sector, said Ilkhom Radjabov, General Director of Uzbekenergotamir.
The company signed a contract with General Electric Global Parts and Products GmbH to service power plants, supply new units, and repair used spare parts. The project cost is estimated at $60 million.
The parties also agreed to organize advanced training for young employees of Uzbekenergotamir. They will be engaged in repair and adjustment work with the assistance of American specialists in order to study modern power plant units.
