Train service en route Tashkent – Kazan may be resumed from 2024
To restore the route, coordination with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is necessary.

Starting next year, train service from Tashkent to Kazan may be resumed, the official portal of Kazan reported with reference to the Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of Tatarstan Farit Hanifov.
The Russian side sent a proposal to restore railway communication between Tashkent and Kazan, interrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for approval.
“We sent our proposal to the central directorate of Russian Railways in order to restore the Tashkent – Kazan route. We need the consent of all countries, states through which the railway runs – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia. Russia has agreed, today the document is being considered in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, as I understand it, is also promptly agreeing,” Hanifov said.
In addition, the Tatarstan minister spoke about plans to increase air traffic between the capitals of the republics.
“In aviation, today we have two Kazan – Tashkent flights per week. We are talking about making the flight daily,” he said.
Also, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, Jasurbek Choriyev, proposed increasing the number of flights between Tashkent and Kazan from 2 to 7 per week.
