Individuals circulating more than 150 counterfeit dollar banknotes detained in Syrdarya

The circulation of counterfeit USD banknotes was prevented in the city of Yangiyer, the PGO department reported.

The Gulistan district PGO department, in cooperation with employees of the SSS and the MIA, held an operative event in the area of “A.Jomiy” mahalla, Yangiyer city.

Citizens A.A. and K.N. were caught red-handed while bringing the counterfeit 8,370 US dollars to citizen A.A.; allegedly, they attempted to circulate 101 units of 50 USD banknotes, 33 units of 100 USD banknotes and 1 unit of 20 USD banknote were collected as material evidence.

On the above case, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 176 of the Criminal Code (forgery of money, excise stamps or securities, their transfer). An investigation is underway.
