Illegal drones may be transferred to state ownership
Punishments in the form of fines and correctional labor may be introduced into the Criminal Code.
In case of illegal import, transfer, receipt, storage and use of drones, it is planned to transfer them to state ownership, the press service of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis reported.
On November 13, at a meeting of the “Adolat” party, it was noted that the initiation of criminal cases against citizens and foreign tourists for the illegal import of drones causes a negative reaction from the public.
Thus, it is proposed to add alternative punishments to the sanctions, such as fines, correctional labor and restriction of freedom.
The initiators of the changes emphasized that the adoption of the amendments will reduce citizen dissatisfaction without changing the established rules for the import and use of drones in the country.
Since January 1, 2015, the import, sale and use of drones has been prohibited in Uzbekistan.
In 2019, the Criminal Code introduced penalties for the illegal import, sale, acquisition, storage or use of drones. In particular, criminal liability is established in the form of imprisonment for up to 3 years.
