Passenger traffic at Samarkand airport doubled in 2023
The most popular flight destinations were Moscow, Istanbul and St. Petersburg.

At the end of 2023, passenger traffic at Samarkand International Airport more than doubled, the press service of the air harbor reports.
Last year, the private company Air Marakanda, which operates the Samarkand airport, served 1.01 million passengers, which is 2 times higher than the same figure for 2022.
Nine new airlines, of which five are foreign, began flying to Samarkand. Among them: Jazeera Airways, Pobeda, Panorama Airways, China Southern, Silk Avia, Humo Air, Centrum Air, SunExpress and UVT Aero.
The most popular destinations from Samarkand were Moscow, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
International air travel accounted for 918.5 thousand passengers (an increase of 106.4%), and domestic air travel accounted for 92.3 thousand people (91.2%). Tashkent became the most popular regional destination.
Currently, Samarkand International Airport serves flights to 7 domestic destinations and 21 international ones. Tel Aviv, Urumqi, Jeddah, Kuwait, Izmir, Mineralnye Vody, Ufa, Samara, Urgench were opened for the first time.
In 2022, management of Samarkand airport was transferred to the foreign enterprise Air Marakanda.
