On the morning of January 17, Tashkent was again ranked among the top 10 cities with high levels of air pollution.
This morning, January 17, Tashkent took 8th place among the largest cities in the world for air pollution. The online index can be viewed on the IQAir portal.
According to IQAir, at about 7:20 am, PM-2.5 readings in the air of Tashkent was 159 μg/m3 - an indicator classified as “hazardous”.
The Indian city of Delhi took 1st place in the ranking – the concentration of dispersed particles PM-2.5 was 252 μg/m3. Kolkata is in 2nd place with 203 µg/m3. The Pakistani city of Lahore closes the top three with 196 µg/m3.
Karachi ranked fourth (194 µg/m3), and the Indian city of Mumbai ranked fifth (178 µg/m3).
Also in the top ten of the ranking were Beijing (China), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Tashkent, Hanoi (Vietnam) and Yangon (Myanmar).
According to the World Health Organization, among indicators of air pollution, particulate matter PM-2.5 poses the greatest health risk.
