Court chairman detained in Namangan for accepting $2,000 in bribe
He demanded this money in exchange for a lighter sentence for the defendant. A preventive measure in the form of imprisonment was applied against him.
The chairman of the Mingbulok district court on criminal proceedings was arrested while accepting a bribe from the defendant’s father, the Supreme Court press secretary reported.
At a quick event held on January 30, 2024, the court chairman Sh.S. was detained while receiving $2,000 from the defendant’s father V.S., whose son was charged with Article 167-3, Paragraph “a” and other articles of the Criminal Code. In exchange, he promised to impose a lighter sentence on the defendant.
At the meeting of the Supreme Court Plenum held on January 31, 2024, the submission of the Prosecutor General about holding the chairman of the Mingbulok district court for criminal proceedings liable under Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribery) and applying preventive measures in the form of “imprisonment” against him was considered and approved.
Earlier, the judge of Yashnabad district court (Tashkent city) was arrested while accepting $4,000 as a bribe.
