Tashkent criminal court wraps up investigation in "Doc-1 Max" case
The criminal proceedings for the highly publicized "Doc-1 Max" case, which began on August 11, 2023, have reached the closing stages after six months of intense courtroom deliberations.

On February 5, Judge Muso Yusupov, presiding over the criminal division of the Tashkent City Court, announced the completion of the investigation phase of the trial, a Kun.uz correspondent reported from the proceedings.
The court has provided time for the state prosecutor and defense attorneys to prepare for the debate phase.
Debates are scheduled to commence on Friday, February 9. According to the Criminal Procedure Code, the proceedings will feature presentations by the prosecutor, followed by statements from the victims, defenders, and the accused individuals.
The "Doc-1 Max" case, involving a medication that led to the tragic deaths of 68 children, had its initial trial session on August 11, 2023. Throughout the case, 23 individuals have been charged under various articles of the Criminal Code. Of those, 9 face pre-trial detention as a precautionary measure.
As the legal process transitions to the deliberation stage, all involved parties are allowed to voice their arguments and defenses. The community eagerly awaits the outcomes, hoping for justice and closure to a case that has deeply impacted families and raised concerns over pharmaceutical regulations and safety standards.
The tragedy has sent ripples through the nation, prompting a rigorous review of drug approval processes and a demand for stringent accountability for pharmaceutical companies. As the final arguments are set to unfold, the families of the affected children and the public at large look to the judicial system for a resolution that upholds the gravitas of the case and prevents such events from recurring.
