Uzbekistan, China discuss strengthening cooperation in consular and legal affairs

Uzbek diplomats have held negotiations in Beijing with Tong Xuejun, the Deputy Director General of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

During the discussions, issues concerning China's visa policy, the protection of rights and interests of citizens of both countries and expanding the contractual and legal framework in the consular and legal sphere were addressed.

The Chinese side was informed in detail about the favorable conditions created in recent years in Uzbekistan for the development of tourism, entrepreneurship, business, and foreign investments in the country, as well as about the reforms being implemented in this direction.

It was emphasized that the liberalization of the visa regime between Uzbekistan and other countries of the world is considered a priority task by the government, with positive results already achieved in this area.

In particular, it was announced that citizens from 91 foreign states are granted visa-free entry into Uzbekistan, while citizens of 56 countries can obtain an electronic visa to enter the country.

Further liberalization of the visa regime with foreign countries, particularly through agreements on mutual visa exemptions, is among the priority directions for the consistent development of the tourism sector for the Uzbek side.

Following the talks, the parties reached an agreement to continue cooperation in further strengthening friendly relations between the countries in the consular and legal sphere.
