Free trade zone “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan” being established
According to the presidential decree, a free trade zone will be created in the Shavat district, Khorezm region.
The presidential decree “On the creation of a free trade zone “Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan” (PD-90 dated February 28, 2024) was adopted.
According to the decree, a free trade zone “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan” will be created in the Shavat district (Khorezm region) to organize infrastructure for storage, sorting, marketing, transportation of goods and other modern services.
In the shopping area:
• services are provided for receiving, storing and sorting products based on modern technologies;
• Based on the “single window” and interactive mechanisms, customs, tax, certification, phytosanitary, veterinary, transport services, banking and currency exchanges, mobile communications, as well as medical, hotel, road transport and other services for clients will be created with a study of existing infrastructure and capabilities ;
• sales of products produced exclusively in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will be organized;
• the customs regime “free customs zone” will operate, in which retail trade operations are permitted;
• citizens of foreign countries and stateless persons located on the territory of Uzbekistan pass through a separate checkpoint on the basis of travel documents, and their return is permitted only through the same checkpoint;
• persons, vehicles and goods will move freely.
Buildings and structures in the trade zone will be rented out to business entities based on online electronic auctions.
