Individuals involved in selling fake driver’s licenses detained in Tashkent
Driving licenses were sold for 3.5-5.5 million soums, depending on the category. Over 200 citizens were deceived.
The Jizzakh regional DIA found out that in 2022, two guys from Bukhara, temporarily living in Tashkent and working in one of the IT companies, organized an illegal business selling fake driver’s licenses.
The attackers posted advertisements on social networks for the sale of driver’s licenses.
At the same time, there were different prices for different categories. So, for category A, B, C rights they asked for 3.5 million soums. For D, E – 4 million soums, and for D and E at the same time – 5.5 million soums.
The attackers introduced themselves to citizens as police officers. For the purpose of secrecy, they purchased a bank card in the name of a stranger, where citizens who wanted to get a license without training sent money.
To convince their clients, they sent them a photo of the fake license, made using Photoshop.
In addition, they actively posted videos on social networks with the speech “So I got a driver’s license”. In their videos, they also involved a citizen living in Russia, who, for a fee, played the role of a happy driver’s license buyer.
It is noted that the fraud suspects did not personally meet with their clients. They also did not show their faces during online communication.
None of the deceived citizens contacted the internal affairs bodies.
Police officers, having seen advertisements of scammers on social networks, took measures to uncover the organized criminal group. First, a citizen living in the “Karavan” mahalla in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, was detained. A laptop, mobile phones, a bank card and 10 million 800 thousand soums were confiscated from him.
During the operational search activities, the remaining members of the criminal group were also detained. Among the detainees were two guys from Bukhara who led the gang’s activities, a programmer who took photographs of fake driver’s licenses, and 6 people who organized groups on social networks.
