Gazprom, Kazakhstan enter into contracts for gas transit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan
The Russian company Gazprom signed contracts with Kazakhstan for gas transit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024.
As part of the forum, a meeting was held between Deputy PM of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Chairman of the Board of Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation, including current and future supplies of Russian gas to Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Chairman of the Board of Gazprom signed with the First Deputy PM of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar an action plan to increase the supply of Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan via the Central Asia – Center (CAC) – 4 gas pipeline.
It should be recalled that in June 2023, a two-year contract was signed for the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and a roadmap for preparing the gas transportation system of Uzbekistan. In October 2023, Russian gas supplies began to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan via the Central Asia – Center gas trunkline system. In November 2023, the government of Uzbekistan and Gazprom signed a strategic memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector, including supplies, gas transportation, geological exploration and hydrocarbon production.
