At the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Suk Yeol, together with his wife Kim Keon Hee, arrived in the country on a state visit.
The high-ranking guest was welcomed at the Tashkent International Airport by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials.
After a brief conversation, the President of Korea, accompanied by his spouse, headed to the residence allocated for them.
According to the agenda of the visit, high-level talks to be held in Tashkent will oversee the development of Uzbek-Korean relations of friendship and special strategic partnership.
Trade, innovation and technological exchange, energy, electronics and electrical engineering, chemical industry, agriculture, infrastructure development, and other priority areas will be the focus of expanding practical cooperation. Joint programs in the fields of education, healthcare, culture, sports, and tourism will be discussed.
There are also plans for an exchange of views on regional cooperation, including the "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" format.
The summit is expected to conclude with the signing of a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents.
President Yun Suk Yeol is expected to visit the city of Samarkand to get acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan.
