Uzbekistan, Netherlands intend to bolster inter-parliamentary relations
As part of a working visit to The Hague, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov met with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the States General (Parliament) of the Netherlands Raymond de Rune.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Dutch interparliamentary cooperation.
Raymond de Rune noted with satisfaction the growing dynamics of interaction between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands in all areas, including interparliamentary relations.
The Dutch side showed great interest in the reforms and transformations carried out in our country under the leadership of the President of the country, the processes of democratization and the formation of a strong civil society.
An exchange of views also took place on the work being carried out to enhance the role and place of parliament in the area of protecting human rights and legitimate interests.
The parties stressed the importance of developing and strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands at the bilateral and multilateral levels, including within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament.
