Competition Committee starts investigation against Bukhara Electric Networks

The Committee for Developing Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights began an investigation into the Bukhara Territorial Electric Networks Enterprise, the departmental press secretary reported.

The Bahouddin Naqshbandi Memorial Complex filed a complaint with the local branch of the Competition Committee regarding the electricity bill. In particular, Bukhara Electric Networks incorrectly calculated the tariff and charged an additional 115 million soums for payment.

In addition, following the results of the first half of the year, the department discovered 20 billion UZS of unjustified income from textile clusters, against which cases were brought for violating the Law on Competition.

Violating enterprises were identified in 11 regions of Uzbekistan. Their full list can be found by following the link.

The Competition Committee accused them of the following violations:

•  failure to list goods on the exchange within the prescribed time frame or supply in small or insufficient quantities;
•  failure to post on the official website of the exchange within the specified period;
•  dispatch of the product under a forward contract in less than a month;
•  cases of sales based on direct contracts;
•  unfair competition.

“These factors could directly or indirectly affect prices for food and knitwear and lead to higher prices in consumer markets,” the department emphasizes.

An anti-dumping case was opened against Shangfeng Cement Plant on Thursday. Local producers accuse the joint venture (JV) launched in April of underpricing their products.
