As Spot previously wrote, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Fergana region.

The President highlighted a number of opportunities for the development of tourism services, including through an agreement on simplified border crossing with Kyrgyzstan. In 2023, over 400 thousand foreigners visited the enclaves of Shohimardon and Yardan.

However, due to the status of the “Vodil” and “Ak-kiya” border crossings, tourists now have to go to these places by a roundabout route through Osh. Solving the problem will make it possible to implement projects worth $100 million in them.

It is planned to create a project for an eco-tourist complex near the Karkidon reservoir. It is expected that a modern hotel, a recreation area, and more than 100 retail, service and entertainment facilities will be built here.

On empty land with an area of 1.6 thousand hectares near the reservoir, you can plant orchards of cherries, peaches, and apricots. In addition, it is proposed to create an intensive fishery in the “Katta dekhkonobod” mahalla.

The opportunity was noted to create $40 million worth of retail and service facilities in the Kuva district along the Fergana-Andijan highway. The President set the task of developing a master plan for the area and developing a two-year program for its comprehensive development.

It is also planned to organize an open-air museum “Shahriston Kubosi” in Kuva. The Tashkent-Andijan train will have a stop in the city.

In addition, the President ordered the launch of regular flights from Kokand from July 15: to Tashkent – every day, to Samarkand and Bukhara – every week.

10 billion UZS will be allocated to create a tourist route around the Tepakurgan archaeological site. At the Kokand University, the Faculty of Tourism has been tasked with introducing foreign educational programs.

It is planned to open five new hotels, a maqom theater and more than 50 retail and service establishments in Margilan, as well as create a tourist zone in the “Pichokchi” mahalla. The city mayor has been tasked with attracting more than $300 million in investments.
