Uzbekistan's airports strengthen precautions against monkeypox with new screening measures
Thermal scanners capable of remotely detecting passengers with elevated body temperatures will be installed by the sanitary-quarantine service at airports.
Preventive measures against monkeypox are being implemented at Uzbekistan's airports, according to a report from Uzbekistan Airports.
It has been reported that the new strain of this disease is mainly spreading in African countries that do not have direct flights to Uzbekistan. However, despite this, preventive measures are being taken at the airports.
In particular, it is planned to hold seminars on the etiology, clinical presentation, epidemiology, diagnosis, and prevention of monkeypox for medical staff at airports in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Sanitation-Epidemiological Stability Center.
Additionally, sanitation and awareness activities aimed at preventing monkeypox have been intensified at all international airports in the republic.
Specifically, airport staff will be provided with simplified information about the disease, including explanations of how some symptoms may manifest visually. Furthermore, thermal scanners capable of remotely detecting passengers with elevated body temperatures will be installed by the sanitary-quarantine service at airports.
Earlier, Rustamjon Ikromov, head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee, stated that strict measures are being taken to prevent the entry of monkeypox into Uzbekistan, recommending that citizens returning from abroad consult a doctor if they notice any health changes.
