President Mirziyoyev signs decree pardoning over 500 prisoners, including foreign nationals and prohibited organization members

On the eve of the 33rd anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On pardoning a group of individuals serving sentences, who sincerely repented for their actions and have firmly embarked on the path of reform," UzA reported.

In accordance with the decree and based on Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, 522 individuals who were serving sentences and sincerely repented for their actions, and who had firmly embarked on the path of reform, were pardoned.

Among those pardoned, 159 were released from their primary punishment, 303 were conditionally released before the end of their sentence, and the sentence of 60 individuals was replaced with a lighter punishment.

Of those pardoned, 19 are foreign citizens, 56 are women, 25 are men over 60 years old, 233 are young people (including one minor), and 27 are individuals who participated in activities of prohibited organizations.

To implement the decree, responsible ministries and agencies have been given the necessary instructions to assist the pardoned individuals in reintegrating into their families and society, adapting to social life, engaging in productive labor, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and finding a worthy place in society.
