Uzbekistan Airways to relaunch flights from Tashkent to Phu Quoc
Flights to the Vietnamese island are scheduled to operate twice a week starting from October 27.
On September 9, Tashkent hosted a business forum of tourist companies from Uzbekistan and Vietnam, the Tourism Committee reports.
The event was organized by the committee in collaboration with the tour operator Prestige Travel. Representatives from tourist companies, hotel brands, and investors discussed opportunities to increase bilateral tourist flow and enhance cooperation.
At the forum, it was announced that direct flights from Tashkent to Phu Quoc Island would resume. Uzbekistan Airways will operate the first flight of this season on October 27.
Flights will be conducted twice a week. The relaunch is expected to boost the influx of tourists from Vietnam to Uzbekistan and facilitate transit for citizens of third countries to Phu Quoc.
As mentioned at the forum, about 2,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2023. There is growing interest among Vietnamese tourists in the historical and natural landmarks of the republic, which could significantly increase the flow of visitors.
Uzbekistan Airways operated its first direct flight to Phu Quoc in November 2022. In that season, the national carrier completed 18 charter flights to the island.
