Uzbekistan honors Paralympic athletes with luxury cars, cash awards, and more
On the evening of September 9, Uzbekistan's Paralympic delegation returned home to a warm welcome at Tashkent Airport following their remarkable performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The athletes were celebrated for their historic achievements with generous rewards, including luxury vehicles and substantial cash prizes.
At a ceremony held at the National Olympic Committee building, the champions were gifted 10 Tahoe cars, while silver and bronze medalists were awarded 16 BYD Song Plus Champion vehicles.
Awards for Gold Medalists:
- $200,000 in cash;
- A Tahoe SUV;
- A two-story cottage.
Awards for Silver Medalists:
- $100,000 in cash;
- A BYD Song Plus EV Champion vehicle;
- An apartment.
Awards for Bronze Medalists:
- $50,000 in cash;
- A BYD Song Plus DM-i Champion vehicle;
- An apartment.
Uzbekistan’s athletes secured an impressive total of 26 medals: 10 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze, placing the country 13th in the overall medal standings and 3rd in Asia, behind China and Japan. This marks the best performance in Uzbekistan’s Paralympic history. In comparison, at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Uzbekistan won 19 medals (8 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze), finishing 16th in the global rankings.
