Repeated hydrogen sulfide leak occurs at a field in Surkhandarya
The Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change provided details about the incident.
On September 17, a repeated hydrogen sulfide leak occurred at the "25 Years of Independence" gas field in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya, resulting in the death of two people.
This information was confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Jusipbek Kazbekov, at a briefing in AIMC.
He stated that after the first gas leak on September 1, specialists carried out measurements at the site and relayed the information to the national headquarters. After the Ministry of Ecology staff revisited the field following the second leak on September 17, no air pollution standards were found to have been exceeded.
The head of the General Prosecutor’s Office Department, Uktam Utaev, reported that the regional prosecutor and local district prosecutors are currently at the site of the accident.
A preliminary investigation is underway. Additional information will be provided on the results of the investigation.
