Fergana resident sentenced to 15 days for cryptocurrency trade on Telegram
A court has sentenced a resident of Fergana to 15 days of administrative arrest for illegal cryptocurrency transactions through the "Wallet" platform on Telegram.
On September 20, the Chilanzar District Court for Criminal Cases reviewed the administrative case against 35-year-old A. N., accused of violating Uzbekistan's cryptocurrency laws.
The Fergana resident was detained by law enforcement officers on September 7 during an operation.
According to the court, A. N. used a Redmi 13C mobile device to conduct illegal cryptocurrency transactions through Telegram. The accused admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and stated that he was unaware of the legal requirements for cryptocurrency transactions.
Considering mitigating circumstances, the court sentenced him to 15 days of administrative arrest. The mobile phone, which was seized as evidence, will be destroyed in accordance with the law.
Additionally, the court ordered A. N. to pay 765,000 UZS for the cost of his stay in the detention center.
