Uzbek airlines face delays, route changes following Iranian airspace closure
Air Samarkand has announced the restructuring of its flight routes from Uzbekistan to Jeddah following the closure of Iranian airspace. The airline warned passengers of potential delays and increased travel times due to the need to adjust flight paths.
In response to the closure, the airline has developed alternative routes through the airspace of the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. These adjustments are expected to affect upcoming flights.
Air Samarkand reported that a delay had already occurred with flight 9S 405 from Namangan to Jeddah, which took place a day earlier. The delay was attributed to factors outside the airline’s control. Further delays are anticipated on flights 9S 406, 9S 407, and 9S 408 between Jeddah, Termez, and Samarkand.
The airline noted that the longer alternative routes would result in extended flight times. However, Air Samarkand assured passengers that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure their comfort during the delays.
