State Security Service chief Abdusalom Azizov attends CIS security meeting in Astana
On October 4, 2024, Abdusalom Azizov, the head of Uzbekistan’s State Security Service (SSS), participated in the 55th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the council participants, which included leaders from security and intelligence agencies of CIS member states such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized the growing importance of the council in coordinating efforts to ensure regional security. He highlighted that the timely exchange of operational and analytical information between member states enhances the effectiveness of countering regional threats and strengthens the defense of national interests.


President Tokayev also expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would further deepen cooperation among the security services of CIS countries and contribute to strengthening international security efforts.
The council serves as a key platform for member states to collaborate on security issues, and its role has gained prominence in light of contemporary challenges, according to the participants.
