Andijon stuns Navbahor with last-minute goal to win Uzbekistan Cup
In a dramatic Uzbekistan Cup 2024 final, Andijon secured their first-ever national cup title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Navbahor, thanks to a decisive goal in the 120+2 minute of extra time. The match, held at the Istiklol Stadium in Fergana in front of 20,000 spectators, marked a historic achievement for Andijon, who will now participate in the AFC Champions League 2025.
The highly anticipated final saw the attendance of regional governors from Fergana, Namangan, and Andijon, highlighting the significance of the clash between the two Valley teams.
Navbahor took the lead in the 35th minute when Abrorbek Ismoilov found the back of the net. However, Andijon equalized in the 82nd minute through a goal by Muhammadkarim Toirov, sending the game into extra time with the score tied at 1-1.
The intensity continued in extra time, with Andijon’s Islam Mamatkazin seemingly securing victory with a goal in the 116th minute. But just two minutes later, Navbahor’s Toma Tabatadze leveled the score again (2-2), setting the stage for what appeared to be a penalty shootout.
However, in the 120+2 minute, Andijon defender Vladimir Bubanya delivered a stunning late goal, sealing a dramatic 3-2 win and giving Andijon their first-ever Uzbekistan Cup title.
With this victory, Andijon not only lifts the prestigious trophy but also earns a spot in the AFC Champions League 2025.
