Uzbekistan opens Visa Facilitation Center in Lahore to boost tourism cooperation with Pakistan
A Visa Facilitation Center for entry into Uzbekistan has officially opened in Lahore, Pakistan. The center, launched in collaboration with Uzbekistan's Embassy in Pakistan and the "Meezab Group," a leading tourism company in Punjab province, marks a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between the two countries.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by regional officials from Punjab, diplomats, representatives of the tourism sector, media, and members of the public. Guests were introduced to Uzbekistan’s rich culture, historical heritage, and diverse tourism opportunities.
Regular direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore were highlighted as a key factor in increasing the flow of tourists between the two countries. A presentation showcased Uzbekistan's potential in various tourism sectors, including pilgrimage, gastronomic, medical, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. The architectural monuments, national cuisine, and high-quality service offered in Uzbekistan attracted significant interest from the attendees.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev participated in the event via an online platform, emphasizing the comprehensive reforms initiated by Uzbekistan's leadership to develop the tourism sector. He noted that Uzbekistan has become one of the most attractive destinations for foreign tourists in recent years. Ambassador Tukhtaev also discussed growing cooperation in tourism between the two countries and highlighted Uzbekistan’s hospitality traditions and modern infrastructure designed to cater to Pakistani tourists.
During the event, representatives of Pakistani tourism companies engaged in discussions about future collaboration projects. They expressed strong interest in Uzbekistan as a travel destination, noting that the center would simplify the visa process and open new opportunities for Pakistani citizens planning visits to Uzbekistan. The initiative is expected to elevate tourism cooperation and strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
