New law introduces criminal liability for specific traffic violations
Amendments have been made to the Criminal Code to enhance the road traffic safety system.

A law titled “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Code on Administrative Liability in Connection with the Improvement of the Road Traffic Safety System” has been adopted.
Under the amendments to the Criminal Code, criminal liability is now established for the following offenses:
- Illegal activities involving vehicle registration plates or identification numbers – including their unauthorized production, transfer, use, or falsification;
- Violations in driver training and certification – including breaches in the procedures for training, retraining, conducting examinations, and issuing licenses for drivers of motor vehicles, urban electric transport, and tractor operators;
- Driving under the influence or evading a sobriety test;
- Driving while disqualified – operating a vehicle despite having been legally stripped of driving privileges;
- Safety violations in vehicles using alternative fuels – including compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, or diesel-gas fuel mixtures.
The law comes into force from the date of its official publication.
