Remote trading restrictions imposed on AI-80 gasoline and propane
Starting March 5, brokers are no longer permitted to participate remotely in AI-80 gasoline and propane trades on the Uzbek Commodity Exchange (UZEX).

According to Spot, two informed sources familiar with the situation confirmed this. Spot reached out to the press services of UZEX and the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
Sources confirmed that trading in AI-80 gasoline and liquefied gas is only allowed through the 13 regional branches of the exchange or registered trading platforms. Brokers can still participate remotely in trading for other commodities.
Spot, based on sources, reports that there are approximately 300 brokers in Tashkent, noting that not all of them would be able to physically fit into the commodity exchange building. One source explained that the new measure aims to protect against hacker attacks.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decree from November 30, 2022 (CMD-687), every exchange participant should be able to participate "from any location or trading halls with internet access." The commodity exchange must ensure an adequate number of ports for connecting remote participants.
On the UZEX website, the advantages of exchange trading are highlighted, including "equal access for all participants regardless of the size of their companies, their industry and departmental affiliation, or geographical location." It also emphasizes the "high level of competition" in the trading process due to the large number of potential buyers and sellers.
According to trading data from March 4, the price of one ton of AI-80 gasoline was 9.35 million UZS. Propane saw a 4.6% decrease, falling to 7.15 million UZS per ton.
