Abdukodir Khusanov’s transfer value soars to €35M, setting a new benchmark for Central Asia
Germany’s Transfermarkt portal has updated the transfer values of English Premier League players.
According to the update, the transfer value of Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has risen to €35 million. This marks a new record for Uzbekistan and Central Asian football.
Over the past year, the 21-year-old Khusanov’s transfer value has increased significantly. It went from €1.5 million to €2 million, then to €5 million in October, and further up to €12 million in December. After transferring from Lens to Manchester City and becoming one of the team's key defenders, his value nearly tripled, reaching €35 million as of March 18, according to Transfermarkt.

Khusanov’s €35 million transfer value is an all-time record for Uzbekistan’s football. Currently, the total transfer value of the Uzbekistan national team stands at €70 million, with half of that — €35 million — attributed to Khusanov alone, while the remaining amount accounts for all other players combined.
Previously, the highest record belonged to Eldor Shomurodov, whose transfer value was set at €14 million in 2021. Khusanov has now surpassed this record by a significant margin.
Khusanov is now the second most valuable center-back at Manchester City. Ruben Dias remains the highest-valued at €70 million, while other central defenders — Nathan Aké (€32 million), Manuel Akanji (€32 million), and John Stones (€30 million) — have seen a decline in their valuations.
Khusanov’s transfer value is not only higher than many defenders in the club but also surpasses some of Manchester City’s well-known stars. Notably, his valuation is now higher than that of Kevin De Bruyne (€27 million), Ederson (€25 million), Mateo Kovačić (€25 million), and Ilkay Gündoğan (€7 million). However, it should be noted that these experienced players have seen a decrease in their values primarily due to their age, as they are over 30.
The most expensive player in Manchester City remains Erling Haaland at €200 million, followed by Rodri and Phil Foden, both valued at €130 million.
Khusanov has now entered the top five most valuable Asian footballers, surpassing Tottenham and South Korea winger Son Heung-min (€30 million).
The top three spots in Asia are occupied by Japan’s Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) and South Korea’s Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich) at €45 million each, while Japan’s Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad) ranks third at €40 million. Khusanov, with his €35 million valuation, now holds fourth place, while PSG winger Kang-in Lee and Son Heung-min share fifth place at €30 million.
Khusanov has also entered the top four most expensive footballers among Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nations. The only players ahead of him are Georgia’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€85 million), Giorgi Mamardashvili (€40 million), and Ukraine’s Illya Zabarnyi (€38 million).
