How much will electricity from the nuclear power plant cost?
According to the director of UzAtom, the exact price will be determined after the final optimization of costs and the development of a feasibility study. However, Azim Akhmedkhojaev has promised that "the price of electricity generated at the nuclear power plant will be among the lowest in the world."

Azim Akhmedkhojaev, the director of UzAtom, addressed a question regarding the cost of 1 kWh of electricity to be generated at the low-capacity nuclear power plant planned for construction in Jizzakh during an interview with the Alter Ego project.
āThe price of electricity generated at the nuclear power plant will be among the lowest in the world,ā he stated.
Akhmedkhojaev added that the exact cost will be determined once the final expenses are optimized and a feasibility study is completed. Based on global experience, the payback period for the project could range from 15 to 20 years.
āThe power plant will serve as an energy source for up to 60 years without replacing its main equipment and components. After that, modernization and additional upgrades will be carried out, allowing the plant to operate for another 20 years. In any case, the payback period for investments will be several times shorter than the plant's operational lifespan. Once the nuclear power plant reaches its break-even point, the cost of 1 kWh of electricity could be as low as 1.5 to 2 cents,ā the UzAtom director explained.
According to Akhmedkhojaev, the final cost of the nuclear power plant remains unknown, but the total expenses are expected to stay below $2 billion. The plant will primarily be financed through external loans, with minimal reliance on the state budget.
