Uzbekistan and Japan discuss visa liberalization
Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olim Abullaev, met with Hisashi Matsumoto, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his working visit to Tokyo.

On May 28, while on a working trip to Tokyo, Deputy Foreign Minister Olim Abullaev held talks with Parliamentary Vice-Minister Hisashi Matsumoto of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on several key issues, including visa liberalization, enhancing humanitarian and business exchanges, reviewing security-related recommendations, and expanding cooperation in labor migration and tourism.
Hisashi Matsumoto noted the positive momentum in Uzbekistan–Japan relations and emphasized Japan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Uzbekistan, which it views as a key partner in Central Asia. He expressed hope for further deepening of this cooperation.
Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to maintain close engagement between the two foreign ministries across all areas of mutual interest.
