President Mirziyoyev inspects progress on Tashkent-East Airport, calls for faster completion of the project
The new air hub is intended to receive official delegations and business aviation flights.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction site of the “Tashkent-East” airport.
Construction of the new airport, based on a former military airfield, began in 2017. The project aims to provide fast, safe, and comfortable air transport while reducing the burden on the existing Tashkent International Airport.
The future airport is envisioned as a key transport hub for both the capital and the developing “New Tashkent” area. It is primarily designed to accommodate official state visits and business trips by foreign investors. Authorities also expect the new airport to stimulate tourism in the Tashkent region.
The first stage of the project, which involved modernizing a 4-kilometer runway, was completed in 2023. The airfield is capable of handling aircraft of all classes, including the heaviest models.
Currently under construction are two terminals – one for receiving official delegations and another for business aviation – as well as an apron and hangars for aircraft maintenance. The airport will be equipped with modern ICAO Class III-A radio navigation and meteorological systems.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev reviewed the project’s technical specifications and the architectural solutions applied in the terminal designs. He gave specific instructions to accelerate the construction process and improve the level of service.
Previously, the president visited the Tashkent-East construction site in July 2023 and again in September 2024. On both occasions, he made remarks about the exterior design of the terminals and instructed that proper facilities be created for welcoming delegations.
