Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Shehbaz Sharif, discusses strengthening Uzbekistan-Pakistan strategic partnership
On July 4, during the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in the city of Khankendi, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.
The sides discussed pressing issues related to expanding and strengthening Uzbekistan–Pakistan strategic partnership based on the adopted "roadmap".
They noted with satisfaction the increasing frequency and productivity of dialogue at various levels. Trade volumes are growing, as are the number of joint ventures and direct air connections. Trade centers have been established in Karachi and Lahore.
Special attention was given to accelerating cooperation projects and programs in the fields of trade, economy, investment, and transport-communication, including advancing the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway.
The importance of successfully organizing the Intergovernmental Commission meeting and the Business Forum planned for later this year was also emphasized.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan also exchanged views on issues of international and regional importance.
