Tashkent resident jailed for five days over illegal crypto trading

A man in Tashkent has been sentenced to five days of administrative arrest for carrying out unlawful cryptocurrency transactions over several months using the BitGet platform.

The Bektemir District Criminal Court reviewed the case of 28-year-old Z.T., who was found to have violated Uzbekistan’s laws on the circulation of crypto-assets.

Case materials show that from March to July, Z.T. engaged in unauthorized cryptocurrency trading on BitGet. The total amount of the transactions reached 5,311.08 USDT (Tether – a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar), thereby breaching national regulations on crypto-asset operations.

During the court hearing, the offender admitted his guilt, promised not to repeat the offense, and asked the court for leniency.

The court found him guilty under Article 155-4 of Uzbekistan’s Administrative Code (Violation of legislation on crypto-asset circulation) and sentenced him to five days of administrative arrest. His mobile phone – a Tecno Pova 6 – was confiscated and transferred to the state.
