SSS uncovers counterfeit medicine workshop in Tashkent
The State Security Service (SSS), together with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, has uncovered an underground workshop manufacturing counterfeit medicines that were being supplied to pharmacies for sale.
During an operation in Tashkent, it was established that premises belonging to a limited liability company specializing in the production of dietary supplements were being used as a clandestine workshop. Counterfeit medicines produced there were distributed through city pharmacies.
The inspection led to the seizure of 11 machines for producing medicines, 21 tablet molds, 389 kilograms of powders and tablets, a Baikal pneumatic weapon, and other items.

In another facility belonging to the same company, authorities also found a secret workshop equipped with molds and equipment for manufacturing medicines, empty capsules and packaging, instructions, and raw powdered substances.
According to an examination by the State Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety, counterfeit versions of Ursosan 250 mg, Neuromidin 20 mg, and Fanigan were being produced at the workshop.
Further checks revealed that a pharmacy operated by an individual involved in distributing the counterfeit medicines – who had also ordered the falsification of Fanigan by supplying the workshop with 130 kilograms of the drug’s active ingredient – was keeping the fakes in stock.

At the pharmacy, officials discovered 1,067 packs of counterfeit medicines across 15 names, including Fanigan, Azimak, and Tsiprolet, along with 274 packs of 14 types of expired drugs.
A criminal case has been opened against three organizers of the underground workshop under Article 186-3, Part 2, paragraphs “b” and “g” of the Criminal Code (manufacture or sale of counterfeit medicines committed by a group of persons in collusion, on a large scale). Investigative measures are ongoing.
