Authorities open criminal cases over unsafe and illegal construction, over 100 unlawful structures demolished
Inspections of multi-storey residential buildings have revealed 396 cases of substandard construction across Uzbekistan, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
The inspections were carried out jointly by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Inspectorate for Supervision in Construction. Based on the findings, materials have been submitted to law enforcement agencies.
In more than 200 cases, lawsuits were filed in court demanding the demolition of illegal structures. Over 100 unlawful constructions have already been demolished. In more than 40 cases, criminal proceedings have been initiated and investigations are under way.
