Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Brussels to sign partnership agreement with the European Union

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Brussels on 24 October 2025 to sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) with the European Union. According to Euronews, the agreement marks a new stage of cooperation in political, trade, and security spheres, strengthening ties and supporting ongoing reforms and sustainable development.

The document underscores both parties’ dedication to continuing reforms, economic modernization, and global engagement, while also laying the groundwork for upcoming initiatives such as the EU–Central Asia Investment Forum to be held in Tashkent this November.

The EPCA is expected to establish a new, modern, and forward-looking foundation for cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan. It introduces new areas of collaboration and significantly updates the legal and regulatory framework for trade and economic relations.

“The Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, or EPCA, represents a historic stage in relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union,” the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. “It replaces the 1996 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and reflects how far our country has advanced politically, economically, and institutionally since then.”
