President Mirziyoyev departs for Qatar
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has departed for Qatar on a working visit at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to the presidential press service, during his stay in Doha, President Mirziyoyev will participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development. The forum will focus on addressing socio-economic inequalities, reaffirming global commitment to the goals of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development, and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Discussions will place particular emphasis on strengthening international cooperation, improving national development strategies, and implementing comprehensive measures to promote social justice, inclusiveness, and societal resilience.
The World Summit for Social Development serves as a key international platform that brings together governments, UN agencies, regional and international organizations, civil society, experts, and business representatives to exchange views and coordinate action on pressing social issues.
The summit’s core objectives include intensifying global efforts to eradicate poverty, expand productive employment, ensure decent working conditions, and promote social inclusion amid contemporary challenges and global interdependence.
At the conclusion of the event, participants are expected to adopt the Doha Declaration – a document aimed at reinforcing international partnerships and fostering coordinated approaches to achieve sustainable and inclusive social progress.
As part of his visit, President Mirziyoyev is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings at the highest level.
