Gas and electricity theft cause UZS 100 billion in damage to state interests in October
In October, authorities uncovered more than 190 cases of illegal energy use across Uzbekistan, resulting in nearly UZS 100 billion in losses.

According to Uzenergoinspeksiya, which carried out inspections together with law enforcement agencies, a total of 192 cases of unauthorized use of natural gas and electricity were recorded during the month.
Investigations revealed that 11.4 million cubic meters of natural gas were stolen, causing losses estimated at UZS 35 billion. In addition, 22.3 million kWh of electricity were unlawfully consumed, leading to damage worth UZS 63.9 billion. The total loss amounted to UZS 99.015 billion.
In response to these violations, 479 administrative cases were initiated against consumers who breached energy usage regulations. The relevant documents have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for further action.
